Living options

Living options, explained plainly.

The right category depends on the person's goals, support needs and the services a specific licensed setting is authorized and able to provide.

Residential Facilities for Groups

Often smaller and more home-like, these settings may suit someone who prefers a quieter environment or a smaller number of residents. Services, staffing, resident categories and endorsements vary.

Ask about: license status, resident category, staffing patterns, overnight coverage, accessibility, meals, activities, medication assistance, transportation and how changes in needs are handled.

Assisted Living communities

Often larger communities with private or shared residences, common areas, activities and supportive services. The exact care model, pricing structure and Nevada licensing or endorsements vary by community.

Ask about: base rent, care-level fees, staffing, response systems, mobility support, dining, transportation, move-out rules and rate changes.

Memory care

A secured or specialized environment designed for people living with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia. In Nevada, confirm that the setting holds the applicable license and authorization or endorsement for the services offered.

Ask about: dementia-specific authorization, staff training, secure access, engagement, family communication and how changing behaviors or needs are addressed.

Independent living

Community living for older adults who want convenience, social connection and fewer household responsibilities but do not require routine personal-care support from the residence.

Ask about: what is included, emergency response, transportation, meal plans, accessibility and whether outside care providers may be used.

Important: A category name is not proof of capability. Families should verify the current license, endorsements, staffing, services, price and admission criteria for every setting under consideration.
